Learn the difference between registered and unregistered NDIS providers, and how this distinction impacts the providers you can use as an NDIS participant.

Your plan manager should make dealing with the financial administration of your plan easier – and you should be able to trust them to do so. Here’s why NDSP is one of Australia’s most trusted plan managers.

We help you understand your NDIS funding
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) system is complex. Understanding everything about it takes experience, expertise, and a dedication to staying on top of the latest developments. Because of this, participants can find it difficult to clearly understand their NDIS funding, budgets and categories.
NDSP helps you understand your NDIS funding. If you have a question about your budgets, invoices, or anything else related to your NDIS plan management, we’ll help you find an answer.
We also keep you in the loop with monthly reporting – so you can see how you’re tracking – and you can see a live view of your budgets at any time, on any device, in our Nappa portal. This means you know exactly where you’re at with your plan spending, and can see ahead of time if you are at risk of over or under spending in your current funding period.

We manage your invoices without disruption to supports
The invoicing process can be time-consuming and confusing, especially if you’re working with multiple providers for different supports. If invoice processing is delayed, it can place a strain on provider relationships – and risk interruptions to your essential supports.
NDSP focuses on accurate, timely invoice processing. We have a 3-5 day average turnaround time from when an invoice is submitted, to when funds are released to the provider. While some delays can’t be avoided – such as if the provider’s invoice is missing information, or for submissions before weekends or public holidays when the NDIA will be offline – we know prompt payment is in everyone’s best interest!
You can talk to real people
It can happen with providers of any size, but if you’re working with a national provider in particular it can be easy to feel like ‘just a number’. We take a different approach – if you have a question or a problem, our team is available to help.
Our friendly and knowledgeable team of NDIS experts are available by phone Monday to Friday, 8.30AM to 5.30PM ACT, with an average call response of just 75 seconds. No matter where you live, our national network of support means you can talk to our real, human team to get the reassurance and answers you need.
We help you navigate NDIS rules and changes with confidence
NDIS reform means the ecosystem is changing over time. This has implications for:
- Who can access the NDIS (eligibility criteria)
- How they can access the NDIS (applications)
- How they can use their NDIS funding (funding periods, plan management models and what is considered an NDIS support)
Change can feel scary. That’s why NDSP ensures we’re always up to date with everything NDIS, so we can pass on that knowledge and ensure you have a solid understanding of what’s going on (and what changes might mean for you).
If you’re not sure about something, our free Participant Toolbox is a great place to get the broad strokes of how NDIS works – we also regularly post updates on our blog, or you can contact our team directly for answers.
You maintain choice and control over providers
One concern we hear from those newer to plan management is, “Does working with a plan manager limit my choice of providers?”
Working with a plan manager shouldn’t make you feel restricted. When it comes to providers, you can choose whoever you like for supports provided that:
- You have approved funding for their services or products in your current NDIS plan (and in your current funding period)
- Their pricing is compliant with the latest NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits (PAPL)
NDSP validates your invoices against not only the PAPL, but also the NDIA’s list of supports. This means any invoices that go to the NDIA are NDIS supports, that you have approved and available funding for in your NDIS plan, and the purchase of these supports or services is compliant with the latest PAPL.
As a plan managed participant, you can choose to purchase supports from both unregistered and registered NDIS providers. Your plan manager cannot decide for you who the best provider is – and if you feel they are trying to do this, you should contact the NDIA right away.

Your information is securely managed
Plan management involves handling sensitive personal and financial information, so trust and security is essential.
We use technologies and security software, network firewalls, and physical security to protect your personal information from misuse, interference or loss.
We’ve also made our online Nappa participant portal passwordless. Most hacks are related to password breaches, so we’ve removed that risk from the equation. When you log in to Nappa, you enter the email associated with your NDSP account. Then you’ll receive a one-time login code by SMS or email, which you can use to access your account.
This makes it impossible for hackers to use your other passwords to get access to your account and information. It also means that if someone tries to log in with your email, you’ll know right away because you’ll get an email or SMS with the code.
Plus, you don’t have to memorise yet another password… it’s win-win!
